A light and refreshing dessert made from coconut milk and agar-agar, perfect for a cool treat on a hot day.
Ingredients (4)
2 cups coconut milk
1 cup water
2 tablespoons agar-agar powder
¼ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
Steps (5)
Prepare the Agar-Agar: In a small bowl, mix the agar-agar powder with 1 cup of water. Let it sit for a few minutes to bloom.
Heat the Coconut Milk: In a medium saucepan, combine the coconut milk and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add Agar-Agar Mixture: Add the bloomed agar-agar mixture to the saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly to ensure the agar-agar is fully dissolved.
Pour into Molds: Remove from heat and pour the mixture into molds or a shallow dish. Let it cool to room temperature.
Chill and Serve: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until fully set. Cut into cubes or desired shapes and serve chilled.
Additional tips
- Flavor Variations: Add a few drops of pandan extract or a splash of coconut cream for extra richness.
- Serving Suggestions: Garnish with fresh fruit like mango or berries for added flavor and color.
- Texture Adjustment: For a firmer jelly, increase the amount of agar-agar powder slightly.
- To make more: double the ingredients.
